Bluestone & Hockley was founded in 1972, and is owned by Cliff Hockley (President) and Julie Hockley (Vice President). Other corporate officers include Elena Tangman-Wells (Executive Vice President) and Tom Sjostrom and Marvin Kau (Vice Presidents). Bluestone & Hockley has also successfully developed one of the most effective Home Owner Association (HOA) and condominium association management companies in the Portland/ Vancouver Metro area. In addition, in support of the management operations and as a service to all of our customers, Bluestone & Hockley also offers an experienced maintenance department licensed in Oregon and Washington. Company History

Bluestone & Hockley began in 1972 when Sid Bluestone, along with his wife Sylvia, established the firm of S. Bluestone Realty. In 1987, the firm was purchased by Sid and Sylvia’s daughter, Julie and her husband Cliff Hockley, who then established Bluestone & Hockley Real Estate Services as a full-service real estate company operating in the Pacific Northwest, with offices in Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA.

Since 1987, the company has expanded its residential management division and established a strong commercial division focusing on the sale, leasing, and management of commercial properties. In approximately 1998, Bluestone & Hockley founded their Community Management Department, which manages Condominium Associations and Homeowner Associations. Today Bluestone & Hockley is a major player in the Portland real estate market with over 6,000 units and over 1,250,000 sq.ft. under management.

The Portland Business Journal has ranked Bluestone & Hockley one of the top 10 largest commercial brokerage firms in the area. Yet, we are small enough that we have not forgotten the values of professional service and trustworthy attention to the properties in our care, which have guided us through more than thirty successful years of service.

As members of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM®), Bluestone & Hockley was awarded Accredited Management Organization (AMO®) status in 1998, and President Cliff Hockley is a Certified Property Manager and Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM).

What is an AMO®?

An AMO® is an Accredited Management Organization® (AMO®). AMOs® receive their designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management® (IREM®). There are about 550 AMOs® worldwide.

Why We Became an AMO®

Bluestone & Hockley Real Estate Services is an AMO® because it reaffirms our ongoing commitment to integrity, professionalism, responsibility, education, and ethical standards. Each AMO® is re-accredited every three years.

What Being an AMO® Means for Our Clients

Because Bluestone & Hockley Real Estate Services is an AMO® our clients can rest assured that we meet or exceed AMO® guidelines for ethics, fiscal responsibility, insurance, and executive education.

Each AMO® is required to have a Certified Property Manager® (CPM®) directing and supervising the property management operations. We believe in continuing education for all employees. In addition, our property managers are trained on financial analysis and how to manage each property in accordance with a management plan.

As an AMO® we meet insurance requirements. Our insurance carriers must be at least a B+ rating with Standard and Poors, which enhances our ability to protect our clients.

As a policy Bluestone & Hockley Real Estate Services has each new employee read and sign the Standards and Code of Ethics for Accredited Management Organizations® which outlines the high ethical standards we expect all our employees to adhere to.
