Bluestone & Hockley Becomes Certified For Lead-Based Paint Repairs & Renovations
Bluestone & Hockley (B&H) Maintenance is pleased to announce that it is now Certified to address lead-based paint repairs & renovations, having met the standards set by the US. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The EPA set Renovation, Repair and Painting Rules (RRP) in 2008 that require the use of lead-safe work practices and education standards to reduce the risk of lead poisoning and lead-exposure. Contractors performing renovation and repairs to properties built pre-1978 must be certified and must follow specific work practices to recognize and contain lead paint and its dust. Lead paint and dust have been linked to a number of dangerous health problems. In May of this year, Oregon became authorized to administer and enforce a lead RRP and a Pre-Renovation Education program.
Three of B&H Maintenance’s technicians have successfully completed the RRP training and as a result, the firm is now recognized as an EPA-Certified Firm. The three B&H technicians who have achieved Certified Renovator status by completing the EPA training are: Bryce Higgins, Jimmy Hurley, and Brian Keechle.
As Certified Renovators, these technicians will be responsible for pre-renovation education, testing, posting signs, and ensuring that all lead-safe work practices are followed exactly as required by EPA.
