Get to know Julie
Julie has been involved in Bluestone & Hockley since her father, Sid Bluestone, founded the company in 1972. Though she has stepped back from operations recently, she was instrumental in the company’s development. She formally started as an employee in the accounting department in 1983, after which she moved into Property Management and Information Technology. She singlehandedly managed the company’s IT needs from 1987-2006. Julie continues to serve on the board of directors for Bluestone & Hockley and Sperry Van Ness | Bluestone & Hockley. A skilled artisan in weaving and metallurgy, Julie has been a member of the Creative Metal Arts Guild and the Portland Handweavers Guild. She was also a founding member of Ora, an organization of Northwest Jewish Artists, and sat on the board of the Mittleman Jewish Community Center. A certified aroma therapist, Julie actively volunteers for CarePartners assisting hospice and palliative care patients.
